Size: 0.30 oz.

Claims: Highlighter Palette | 3 Complementary Highlight Shades | 2 Shimmers | 1 Mega Sparkle | Made with YouTuber Casey Holmes

Price: $35.00

Purchase: Sephora | HSN | Nordstrom | Ulta | Smashbox

Recently I posted a review of the Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Pearl and at the time that was the only one I planned on getting, hence why I went ahead and covered it. However, Casey Holmes was recently on HSN promoting her collaboration with Smashbox and due to this HSN had up a bundle of the Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold as well as Pearl each with one of Smashbox’s fan brush for the same price as the actual palette! Of course I had to go ahead and pick it up so that I could have the complete set…and of course review it for you as well! Let’s find out more about the Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold and what I thought of it compared to the Pearl.

Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold: About

Smashbox X Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold Backs || Southeast by Midwest #beauty #bbloggers #smashbox #smashboxXCaseyHolmes #caseyholmes

If you read my review of the Pearl palette, and if you didn’t find it here, then you know that these palettes are a collaboration between YouTuber Casey Holmes and Smashbox Cosmetics. Each palette is a three pan highlighting palette where the shades are designed to complement each other. Each palette comes with 2 shimmer highlights and one “mega sparkle” that can be used either alone or with the other two. The three shades in the Gold Spotlight palette are the same as in the Pearl palette just shaded for the gold palette, they are: Turn It On (shimmer), Crank It Up (shimmer), and Blow a Fuse (mega sparkle). The Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold is designed to be used for medium to dark skin tones while the Pearl is designed to be used for fair to light skin tones.

Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold: Review

Smashbox X Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold Open || Southeast by Midwest #beauty #bbloggers #smashbox #smashboxXCaseyHolmes #caseyholmes

Before we get into the review I want to talk a bit more about why I purchased the Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold when I just said that it was meant for medium to dark skin tones and I’m obviously between fair and light. I purchased it for a few reasons the first of which was that as a HUGE Casey Holmes fan I want to support her collaboration so I wanted to eventually get both palettes, same way that I’ve purchased every KL Polish shade that has been released so far! From there I actually knew I would get use out of the palette because it would go PERFECTLY in my kit as a great highlight for my medium to dark skinned clients. Lastly, if nothing else I can use it as eye shadow!

Smashbox X Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold Swatches || Southeast by Midwest #beauty #bbloggers #smashbox #smashboxXCaseyHolmes #caseyholmes

Now that we got that out of the way let’s talk about the palette itself shall we? The Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold performs just as well as the Pearl palette, which I was expecting. However, the shades in the Gold palette are soooo much more pigmented that they have me wishing I fake tanned so that I could wear them myself. Where the Pearl palette gives me a nice glow when blended down the Gold palette gives me the “Glow to the Gods” (as Nikki Tutorials would say) look if I want to rock it and trust me part of me wants to rock it all day every day but then the more rational part says “Girl, you live in a small town in South Carolina blend that down a bit!”

Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Gold: Final Thoughts

If you are a medium to dark skinned person and are looking for a highlighting palette that has different options but won’t break the bank you need to head out and get this RIGHT NOW! If you are a fair to light skinned person and want to “Glow to the Gods” you also need to run and get this RIGHT NOW! However, if you’re not ready for that level of highlight yet then run and get the Pearl palette RIGHT NOW! If there is someone in your life that loves highlight, sneak a peek at their makeup stash to make sure that they don’t already have this because there’s a good chance they might!, run and get this RIGHT NOW!

That smashbox has some very great shades which I also liked being light skinned. I would try one of these for a special occasion glimmer look.

I’m not a big highlighter or makeup person, however my oldest daughter is. She received several Sephora gift cards for her graduation this year, and she picked up a few Smashbox items!

I love Smashbox and am glad to see they didn’t skimp in their formulation on this palette. I haven’t purchased any Youtube collabs because often the reviews aren’t so great, but this might be the exception.

Smashbox makes the BEST stuff – this palette looks amazing. My skin is super pale and these shades look like they’d work awesome on my skin. It’s hard for me to find good highlighter colors and these could be the ones.
