Heaven Around the Corner by Betty Neels Review on southeastbymidwest.com #bookreview #review #books #literary #bettyneels

About the Author

Born in Devon, England on September 15th, 1910 Betty Neels trained as a nurse when she was younger. After fleeing the country Betty wound up in Northern Ireland where she met her Dutch husband. Betty and her husband were married in London, had a daughter, and managed to make their way back to Holland after the war where they settled down.

Betty continued to work as a nurse for a number of years before retiring and that was when she started writing. Her first book, Sister Peters in Amsterdam, and went on to write 134 more books and was writing up to a year before her death.

Betty Neels passed away on June 7th, 2001 at the age of 91.

Synopsis

Heaven Around the Corner by Betty Neels on southeastbymidwest.com #bookreview #review #books #literary #bettyneels

A new place, a new job — and a new love!

Louisa did want desperately to get out from under the roof of her disagreeable stepmother, and she couldn’t bear the thought of marrying Frank, who bored her. So after finishing nursing school, she jumped at the offer of a challenging job that would take her to Norway.

But this exciting move didn’t solve all her problems. Louisa was having lots of trouble with one patient, Claudia Savage, whose uncooperative brother Simon seemed to make matters worse. Louisa was doing her best; couldn’t Simon see that? Did he always have to be so unpleasant towards her?

My Review

Heaven Around the Corner is a cute little romance novel. From the book information you can see that this is an older book. I chose to read this book and review it as a more “nostalgic” book review. When I was teenager I LOVED to read, to the point that I would go through books faster than we could get to the library. As such I had to borrow books from different family members, friends, and family members of friends. Which meant that I got a lot of questionable books offered to me, however, my grandmother (NaNa) decided that the lesser of two evils was to let me read her books. She is an avid Betty Neels fan and has/had tons of her books. Betty Neels books are light romance books that feature a good love story but without the heavier parts that a romance book might have.

Heaven Around the Corner keeps to the way that Betty Neels is known for writing. There is a good love story and nothing stronger than a light kiss is ever mentioned. In Heaven Around the Corner Louisa is hired as a nurse by Claudia when the latter is forced to move back Norway by her overbearing brother. Louisa tries hard to figure out what exactly her patient suffers from, however, both doctors are very vague about what it is exactly that Claudia suffers from. After being in Norway for a short period of time Louisa finally realizes that Claudia is a recovering alcoholic in the midst of a relapse. However, when Louisa goes out on a date with a local banker and he brings her back to the apartment he and Claudia quickly fall in love. Seeing this as the possible chance for Claudia to finally beat her disease, Louisa strongly backs the relationship. Meanwhile, Simon, Claudia’s brother, who Louisa originally thought was generally unnecessarily mean starts to grow on her.

Will Claudia start to overcome her disease? Does Simon start to get a better attitude? Does Louisa find her happily ever after? To purchase and find out, click here.

  • 2018 was a year full of ups and downs One
2 months ago by southeastbymidwest 2018 was a year full of ups and downs. One of the ups included connecting with more YouTubers and starting to build friendships with them. Another one of the ups was receiving SEVERAL amazing PR packages from  @pixibeauty  which I am late on covering because of some stuff that happened (more on that in a mo). One of the packages was a set that included their MatteLast Liquid Lips swatched in the first photo for you. Also included in the package were containers of color (swipe to 2nd photo) to make my own custom shade (swipe to 3rd photo) for
