January Birchbox Reveal on southeastbymidwest.com

About Birchbox:

Birchbox is a sample program where for $10 a month you get four to five beauty or lifestyle samples.

The Unboxing:

Sample One

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle on southeastbymidwest.com

The first item that I received in my Birchbox was a bottle of Beauty Protector’s Protect and Detangle. This is a detangler that is marketed to people who are not six year olds. I love using a hair detangler that is not actually meant for my niece. Plus this was a nice sized sample that I can use multiple times to get a feel for it.

Sample Two

Nail Rock Red Glitter on southeastbymidwest.com

The next item I received is actually a full sized item! This is a nail art product and is done by painting two coats of polish on the nails and then before the second coat dries dipping it into the glitter. Birchbox has several different options when it comes to Nail Rocks. They offer the glitter in several different shades, sequins, velvet, and caviar. I’m wanting to try one of the velvets soon.

Sample Three

Besame Lipstick Sampler on southeastbymidwest.com

I found this sample to be soooo cute. However, I prefer for lipstick to come in little tubes as it tends to be more sanitary. I feel that both Besame and Birchbox missed a chance on this one.

Sample Four

Reviver Dry Deodorant on southeastbymidwest.com

I really have no use for this. Also, these are supposedly reusable yet they come with no case or reseable packaging. Again I feel that the mark was missed on this one.

Sample Five

Juara Candlenut Body Creme on southeastbymidwest.com

I love trying out new lotions, body butters, and body cremes so I loved that I received this. However, what I didn’t love was the packaging. The way that this body creme is packaged I would not be able to reuse it so this is good for really only one use. That really is not enough time for me to find out if this is worth the $35.

Value

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle – $2.74

Reviver Dry Deodorant Cloth – $3.00

Besame Cosmetics Lipstick – $5.50

Nail Rock – $7.00

Juara Candlenut Body Creme – $0.79

January Birchbox Contents on southeastbymidwest.com

My Birchbox cost me $10 and I received $19.03 worth of products. While there were a few good products in my box overall I was Meh about this one. After several great boxes I was actually expecting this.

I love this idea of sending you a box like this! Whoever thought of this was pure Genius! It allows you to sample new things. I get stuck in the same rut of using the same thing all the time. I’m going to look into getting a box of my own. 🙂 I would get so excited every month to see what I am getting.

I didn’t see anything I would TOTALLY love either, although the butter cream lotion did sound pretty awesome, too bad the packaging wasn’t user friendly.

The nail rock actually looks like fun. The other products, I’m not sure how I’d feel about, so I could see why you’d be “meh” about it. (And now I need to go look up what you may have received in previous boxes!)

I love the Nail Rock set! Birchbox looks awesome. Right now I am subscribed to IPSY but have been on the fence about it. I think I may switch over. The products look more useful and I love seeing other people’s unboxing videos and photos.
