I know that I haven’t posted in awhile and that’s because I’ve been spending time with my husband who is currently in the hospital. We’re still on a “wait and see” basis of what’s going on with him, however, since he’s feeling a bit better I decided to go ahead and do a post for today.
It’s time for another #FridaysFancies, which means I’M LINKING UP WITH ALISON. This week’s theme is Sparkle + Shine and I decided to use that theme in an outfit that can be worn at a nice Christmas party.
Blockade Party Dress from ModCloth – $124.99
As soon as I saw this dress I knew I was going to use it for a #FridaysFancies around Christmastime. The red of this dress is just gorgeous and is of course a Christmasey color. The gold in the dress is also a Christmas color, however, it adds some shine and texture to the dress. The best part to me though is the print/design of the dress. I look at the Backgammon print and I immediately think Christmas party.
Highlight Stone Platform Pumps in Nude from Payless – $29.99
These pumps were an instant love for me. I think the nude color brings out the print in the dress a bit more. While most would think that the shininess of the gold from the dress would clash with the glittering stones from the pumps I actually think they compliment each other beautifully.
Satin Mid-Length Cape in Ivory from David’s Bridal- $100
I knew instantly that I would want a cape to go over this dress because A. it would be to cold to not have something and B. I thought a jacket with those pumps might be a bit to “seductress” for some people. A cape on the other hand will keep you snuggely warm while still looking classy with the pumps. While you can get the cape in white, selecting one in Ivory will match a bit more with the pumps.

Hoping all gets better soon with your hubs. I love capes my mom had a velvet one that I still have in a plastic wrap I am so afraid to wear it and take it out.

I have never owned a cape. They seem so big and bulky, and like they would be in my way more than anything. I should probably try one on before I draw that conclusion though.

Love the dress and cape, but I’m terrified of the pumps. Heels and I don’t get along. For your question, I grew up loving capes and like to play with them. I’m not so sure of wearing them out.

Oh my goodness! The blockade party dress is so cute. I may just have to check out ModCloth this spring for some new dresses. Right now, I’m flat broke from Christmas shopping.

That dress is super cute.
And, capes? I’m not sure. I think I would have to see it on and it would depend on the outfit.

What a beautiful dress! I just went to a holiday office party last night, and shopping for the right dress was so hard. You did a great job putting this together!

That cape is so cute! I do love a good cape, even though I don’t have much reason to wear one that fancy.
