It’s June and that means it’s time for another Literary Junkies linkup. If you don’t know what is I’ll give you a bit of a run down. Literary Junkies is a linkup that focuses on literary questions, we also have a book club that picks a different book each month that we read and then discuss on Twitter on the third Tuesday of each month. Both the linkup and the book club were started by Taylor and Lesley.
And now onto this month’s questions
What are you currently reading? Tell us about it.
I’m currently reading The Lightbearers by Nora Garica. The synopsis according to Goodreads:
“The Lightbearers is the story of an ancient Egyptian King and Queen, Akhenaton and Nefertiti, who have been reincarnating together for the past 3300 years. They have been entrusted with the mission of The Lightbearers, whose responsibility is to be guardians of the human race and to enlighten any whose path they cross. Through reincarnation, during each of their lifetimes, they strive to overcome violence, greed and injustice and in each lifetime they leave pockets of individuals with whom they have shared their secrets of life and death. They have also been ascribed with the powers of telepathy, astral projection and psychokinesis. They are highly evolved and highly enlightened.”
I haven’t really read enough into yet to determine whether or not it’s good.
Who is your favorite book character and why?
Hmmm I would probably say Jane Eyre. She’s one of my favorites because A. I love that book sooo much and I guess B. would be because she overcomes so much to get to the happy ending that she gets.
What would the title of your memoir be?
Wow I can not think of anything for this question. This always happens to me on at least one question in a linkup. I don’t know how about “Fun Size Isn’t Always Small Size”. I think I actually like that title.
You be the director. Cast your favorite book characters for the movie version that has not yet been made.
Hmm I’m not going to use my favorite book because Jane Eyre has been done at least twice now. I think I’m going to do The Eyre Affair
Thursday Next – Jennifer Lawrence (if she could pull off a British accent)
Jane Eyre – Charlotte Gainsbourg
Mr. Rochester – Liam Neeson
Acheron Hades – Benedict Cumberbatch
What book series do you remember reading at elementary/middle school age?
Fear Street and Babysitters Club
Katie Clark says
Ohhh I loved Babysitters Club. I read all those books, plus all the little sister ones. Good memories.
Cassie says
I never got the chance to read the Little Sisters ones but I always wanted to.
Rachel @ I Love My Disorganized Life says
I like the title you picked for your memoirs, it’s a super fun title, just like you! I loved Jane Eyre as well, although I though it a bit on the tragic side.
Cassie says
I’m glad you liked the title. I agonized for almost an hour on that question and then out of nowhere it just hit me. It was so unexpected I almost looked for a bruise 😉
Jane Eyre is by far one of my favorite books ever I think part of why I like it is because of how tragic it is. She was abandoned by her family as a child, had all the stuff with Rochester, but in the end they still wind-up together. Love can conquer anything and a bad childhood doesn’t always make you a bad person. Good life lessons right there lol.
Kakers says
I can’t get Benedict Cumberbatch out of my head. He’s name alone does things to my brain.
Great title for you memoir, I like it!
Cassie says
I love me some Benedict Cumberbatch, I agree his name alone is awesome, have you seen the BBC series Sherlock staring him? If not you should give it a go because he’s freaking awesome in it.
Kakers says
I saw one episode so far because my internet sucks balls. I’m excited to see him in that. I completely fangirled while watching him in Star Trek and I’m not embarrassed about it either lol.
Cassie says
Sherlock comes back in November and I can’t wait to see what they do with it because they left it on such a cliffhanger! I haven’t gotten to see the new Star Trek yet… how awesome was it?
Kakers says
Sounds like I got a lot of catching up to do.
It was epic, and his performance is scary good.
Hezzi-D says
Oh man I loved both the Babysitter’s Club and Fear Street-both are awesome series.
Cassie says
They really were. I wish I could get my hands on both of the series. I keep look for them at flea markets and Goodwill.
sara says
Love Jennifer Lawerence. I’ve always wanted to read Jane Eyre but it’s one of those untouchables…I have to really put my mind to it!
Kate says
Ohhh Jennifer Lawrence would be a great Jane!!!
Lesley says
Ohhh Babysitters… the best. I actually went a little nuts and bought a whole lot of them from a thrift store while I was in university and started reading them again haha! Thanks for linking up!
Jacquelyn @justjacq says
Love the title of your memoir! I would definitely read that. And I’ve never heard of The Eyre Affair!!
Taylor @ Pink Heels Pink Truck says
Can you believe I’ve never read Jane Eyre? Definitely on my to-read list, but haven’t read it yet (shame on me…lol) 😉 Mailing your book tomorrow!
Cassie says
Oh my goodness you should read it when you get a chance. And yay can’t wait to get it, I’ll start stalking the mail lady in a few days 😉
