June Ipsy: On the Wild Side

It’s the middle of June and that means it’s time for another Ipsy unboxing. I know that in April I said I was cancelling, and I did for the month of May, but I got a “If you resubscribe this is what could be in your bag” email and it was for a full size NYX blush. I’ve always wanted to try NYX so I, of course, had to resubscribe.

Ipsy June 2013 Reveal on Southeast by Midwest

Before we jump into the contents of my bag we’re going to be doing things a bit different for these. From now on I’ll be doing the unboxings on my YouTube channel and I’ll be embedding the video into this post. That way if you want to see the products more in depth and see swatches you can just watch the video.

The Video

The Bag

As you can see the bag animal print with a neon green zipper. The hubs of course hates animal print but I think this bag is so fun. It would make a nice little clutch bag to take with you to the pool or out to a club.

The Lipliner

I got the shade Bare, which is a brownish shade, I don’t EVER wear brown or neutral shades so I was a little miffed to get this. Until I realized it’s a great excuse to go out and buy a neutral shade!

The Blush

*sigh* Is it just me or should a blush be… I don’t know… PINK? This comes off as more of a bronzer. I was sooooo disappointed that I got this shade.

The Palette

J. Cat Sparkling Palette from June Ipsy Reveal on Southeast by Midwest

Can I just mention that I found out that these are not even safe for the eyes? So where am I supposed to put this? If I put it on my face it’s going to look like I don’t know how to clean up fall-down. If I put this on my body I’m for sure looking like a disco ball.

The Eyelashes

J. Cat Eyelashes in EL99 from June Ipsy Reveal on Southeast by Midwest

What the heck is with all the companies trying to get me to use false eyelashes? Did someone send out a memo that it would now be the goal to get me to where these in some or fashion? Also, I find it very creepy that these are made out of human hair.

The Highlighter

Chella Highlighter in Ivory Lace from June Ipsy Reveal on Southeast by Midwest

This actually works really well for me as an under-eye brightening concealer. This one’s a keeper for me.

The Value:

Starlooks Lipliner – $12.00

NYX Blush – $5.00

J. Cat Sparkling Palette – $4.49

J. Cat Eyelashes – $3.99

Chella Highlighter – $18.00

Grand Total: $43.48

There you have it for $10 I got $43.48 worth of product. While, I wasn’t 100% happy with the products it’s a great way to test out new products because I NEVER would have purchased false eyelashes. If you’d like to signup for Ipsy it’s only $10 a month and you get 4-5 deluxe samples (although this month ALL of the products in my bag were full-size) click here.

What product would you most like to have had?

Too bad you can’t put the sparkly stuff on your eyes, it would look great! I’m not sure where else you would put it…your cleavage to get more attention?

I know right! It’s a palette so one would assume that it’s for the eyes. However, it states on their site that it is not the type of glitter to be used on the eyes. Also, it did not state this anywhere in my bag, if I had not gone to their site I never would have known. Not good.

Can I just say that you are TOO CUTE?! And I love your short hair! Funny how companies always get you back with some kind of offer! I actually love nude or neutral lip liner. But I don’t wear pinks, so it works. I have to agree with you on the eye shadow. What were they thinking! And the eyelashes, I can’t bring myself to wear them, either. My girls love them, though. They wear them to school dances haha!

Yep, I prefer a pink blush. I’m glad I’m not the only one who hate false eyelashes! I have to check out if I can signup to Ipsy even though I’m from PR.

Thank you for the review. I had no idea the cream palette was not for your eyes. That’s exactly where I would have put them!!

Same here! I’m glad that I look at my Ipsy page before I test out any of the products or else that may not have ended well. I just worry about the people who may not know that it’s not safe for the eyes because there was no warning in the bag about that product 🙁

I’ve had birchbox for over a year now, but I’m really liking the ipsy goodies! I’ll have to try it out.

I got the email about the NYX blush too, and it tempted me. After seeing the rest of the bag, I’m glad I didn’t resubscribe. I just think these types of programs are not for me. That’s scary about the glitter palette!

I have a love-hate relationship with the bags due to the fact that it gives me a way to try new products but they always send me shades that I’ll NEVER wear. Hopefully they redeem themselves a little bit with July or I’m going to have to cancel…again.

We got almost an identical package, except for the NYX palette. I was meh about pretty much everything in mine too-but I’ve been using the highlighter a little and set the glitter aside for something fun! Not sure what yet though!

I did the whole Ipsy thing a couple times before also – I would have it for 2 or 3 months and then just wasn’t impressed but then would see a review of a certain month that the products actually seemed worth it so I would subscribe again only to be let down again. It’s definitely not bad for $10 a month though to try everything though. I currently do Birchbox (which is still also kind of hit or miss for me) and then Glossybox – Have you looked at Glossybox at all? It’s a little more at $20 a month but always has at least 1 or 2 full size products and I seriously have never had a box I didn’t like from them!

I’ve thought about doing Glossybox before, if Ipsy disappoints for July I may switch over to that one.

I got Ipsy this month too but I got the mosaic blush which I absolutely love. I also got the false eyelashes and glitter palette both of which I will never use.

Yesss we will have to work on that if you’re still using them 😛 (just kidding). I still have that series in the plans that we talked about before. And I STILL can’t make myself try those real hair eyelashes *shudders*
