That bright pink bubble mailer found its way into my mailbox just a few days ago. Those of you who have been around for awhile know that I’m referencing the Ipsy monthly beauty bag that I receive. Lets jump straight into what I received.

This month’s bag is a white curtain-type fabric, you know that white backing that is on the back of the heavy drape style curtains that is what this fabric feels like to me, and is lined with a pink leather type material. The inside is pink and white striped with Ipsy all over. I really like the look of this bag but I’m seriously afraid if I look at it funny it’ll get stained and be ruined.

The first product inside the bag was this Big Sexy Hair Powder Play. It is supposed to be a volumizing powder that comes out white and when you rub it into your hair it disappears and gives you volume. I would love to say that this product works great, however I can’t and that is because there is a very awesome design flaw with the packaging. I already told you how the product works, well Big Sexy Hair I guess didn’t account for the fact that during shipping the product would be rolling around thus dispensing product out of the holes and into the lid, the product would then rub in between the top of the lid and the top of the bottle resulting in evaporation. I had enough product left in the package to test on the back of my hand and that was all, the rest was completely empty.

The next item in the bag was actually a full size item, Be a Bombshell blush in Sweet Cheeks. This product is pink with a small bit of shimmer through it. I love this blush and have already used it a few times since receiving it. For sure a repurch once I hit pan.

Next in the bag was this Mica Beauty “Shimmer Powder” (eye shadow) in Earth. This is actually a mineral eye shadow and another full size product. To be honest I’m not a big mineral makeup fan and I’ve recently acquired a Coastal Scents 252 Palette and two Urban Decay palettes so I’m not in a desperate need of this either. That being said I think I know someone who is interested in trying out mineral makeup and this might be something that she could try out as an eye shadow and possibly a highlighter.

The last item was another full-size product, a nail polish in the shade “Of Corset I’ll Call You” which is a super pale pink. When I say super pale I do mean SUPER pale; this could almost be a buff shade it’s so pale. It takes several layers to build-up but once you do build it up it does look gorgeous. So I’m having a love/hate relationship with it.
In my opinion this bag was really meh, in actuality the past several bags have been meh, add onto that Ipsy switched to a different shipper and my past two bags have taken a seriously long time to arrive. I have decided to cancel my Ipsy subscription for the moment. I feel that they are on the path of becoming what I feel other beauty subscriptions have become. I hope that they prove me wrong, if they do I will be resubbing. For right now though, I’m bowing out.
Do you subscribe to any beauty subscriptions?
Also, today I’m guest posting over at Brenna‘s blog Life After Laundry.
My post is going live before hers so if you go check her blog and you don’t see it, try back after 8:00 am.

OMG, I laughed so hard: “I’m seriously afraid if I look at it funny, it’ll get stained and be ruined”! YES, THAT is exactly my thoughts as well! Every time someone picked it up to look at it (when I was showing it around) I really wanted to snap at them: “Did you wash your hands?! Show them to me! Nooooo, you have a speck of something on your pinky! DO NOT TOUCH!” lol, but I refrained -_-
I like that shimmer powder! I am not big on colorful eyeshadow, I just like a little shimmer. I want to subscribe to birchbox, but I can’t afford it. 🙁
I’ve been wanting to subscribe to boxes like this, but I just can’t afford it right now. Looks like you got some great products though!
