Well I did it again…I resubscribed to both Ipsy and Sephora Play recently. I decided to do both as they have both been looking good recently and I really wanted to give both another shot. I also decided to do both as I thought a “Battle of the Bags” aspect would be a fun way to do a reveal. I will admit that a March Battle of the Bags part of the way through April is a bit late BUT better late than never right?! As always, for a full look at everything make sure to check out the video below.
March Battle of the Bags: Ipsy
In the main photo at the top, the Ipsy bag is the pink bag. I absolutely LOVE the bag for the month of March without even knowing what the contents are! However, here is what WAS inside the March Ipsy Bag:
- Neogen Coconut Milk Cleanser
- Skone Luxe Pro Blending Brush
- PUR Cosmetics Disappearing 4-in-1 Concealer
- theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer
- So Susan Blush & Glow
March Battle of the Bags: Sephora Play
As always the Sephora Play came in a little cloth baggie. I was actually a little disappointed by this as February’s bag came in a satin pouch from what I saw, so I thought they had stepped up their bag game…looks like I was wrong. Here is what was inside the March Sephora Bag:
- Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eye Shadow Stick
- Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm
- Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer
- Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast
- Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up Highlighter
- Chloe Fleur de Parfum
March Battle of the Bags: Final Thoughts
So who won the March Battle of the Bags? For March I would have to say it’s a toss up. While Sephora had more products that I liked and the sizes were better, I’m looking at you theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer, the Ipsy bag was far better. I have stayed subscribed for the month of April and have actually already received the April Ipsy bag! So make sure to come back in a week or so for the April Battle of the Bags, oh and there will be two new “bags” for the month of April!

It does sound like they were both pretty awesome. You got some awesome new products this month.
Cassie says
Several of the products were amazing.
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle says
You know what the real moral of this story is? In this case, EVERYONE wins. LOL. I love both of these lines.
Cassie says
Exactly!
Colleen Lanin says
I really feel like instead of decided between the two, I should just get both! They are both excellent companies with great products.
Cassie says
Yes you should lol
Meagan says
These are really cute bags. I don’t wear much makeup but I like the bags.
Melissa says
I think both of those bags had their great benefits. I would love to sample both types and I also would have a tough time choosing.
Maureen says
Love this, battle of the bags. You are so smart with all of this beauty stuff, keep on sharing information. I enjoy learning more about all of these brands!
Cassie says
Glad that you’re learning something and that you’re enjoying it!
Pam says
I think I would have liked the Sephora bag most this month. The ipsy bag was much cuter but the products in the Sephora bag are more my style.
Cassie says
See that was the issue I was having as well! Ultimately the cute bag won out though!
Jeanine says
I don’t know! I think they both look great. I think I’d like that Sephora Play more. I think they both look great though and I guess it would just depend on personal preference. I love the comparison though.
My Teen Guide says
I don’t have any subscription for beauty boxes, not because I don’t like it but because I do not use make up that often. I would show this to my daughter who would surely flip over both Sephora and Ipsy boxes. If she’s going to pay for it, fine. If not, then she should just choose one. 🙂
Cassie says
That’s a great way of looking at it!
Tracey says
This is so interesting. I didn’t even know Sephora had their own bag! I have heard a lot of good things about Ipsy.
Jocelyn @ Hip Mama's Place says
I have not heard of these bags. I got to check both out. I love Sephora and I shop their online store all the time for makeup and skincare.
Shannon Gurnee says
I used to get IPSY but stopped my subscription. I felt like a lot of the items weren’t things I would necessarily use or buy if I saw them in the store or online. I love my Sephora subscription though!
Cassie says
I use to be the same way about Ipsy. However, they seem to be getting better about that now…now watch and the next few months will be more of the old stuff that I’ll never use or buy lol
Louise Bishop says
Both bags look awesome. I’ve always been big on Sephora so I’m biased.
Cassie says
I don’t think that’s a bias, if you know the brand and like them then that’s a point in their favor.
Crystal says
I love subscribing to
Boxes like these, so it’s good to know where to spend my money. Curious to see how the next month’s compare!
Adrianne Betz says
This would be a hard choice for me. However, I think I have to ultimately agree with you.
Cassie says
The choice was difficult, not going to lie lol
Kita Bryant says
I have never tried either bag. They both look like they would please me though!
Cassie says
For only $10 you should give one or both a try.
Kiwi says
Sephora is my favorite beauty store! I would love to check out a Sephora Play bag!
Cassie says
They have some decent products in it, plus if you go into the store and buy anything during the remainder of the month you get 50 extra beauty points.
Tonia @TheChattyMomma says
Ooooo I don’t even know about Sephora Play. I’ll have to check that one out. I love getting my Ipsy bag every month.
Cassie says
They do have a waitlist so it may be a bit before you get it, but they’ve been opening it about once a month you might get lucky and it be sooner rather than later.
Kelly Hutchinson says
I had no idea there were choices of these two bags! I love Sephora products, so that is where my vote would go.
Cassie says
Yeah there’s actually quite a few beauty subscription boxes available now.
Elle sees says
I can’t stand how tiny the bronzer samples are. Just impossible to work with, right? I just use them as shadows or repurpose into other diys. I got a similar Ipsy to yours.
Cassie says
Yeah when they’re that small there’s no using it as a bronzer, only an eyeshadow. Your DIY’s amaze me, I can’t wait for your next one!
